We Need More Sock Puppets

Here are a few of the sock puppets that I made earlier this month between all the stuffed rabbits. Just in case you were wondering, This is supposed to be a lion.
I really liked how this one came out. He looks like such a nice crazy king. I have loved these soft fuzzy socks that I found at the dollar store. These were the last of my stash. I wish I had bought the whole box full.
I really liked the goat that I had made at Christmas, so I had to try another one. I made this one's horns a little straighter. You just have to love the goats!

Woodland Creatures

I have made more than rabbits and cats in the past month. Here is a chipmunk. His cheeks are full of something. I think the rabbits must have shown him where the food is.
I put stripes on his back to give him a more chipmunk like appearance.
Here is someone who looks like he is ready to get into trouble. The raccoon has already found the garbage can it seems, but he still looks hungry.

They Are Not Peter Cottontail

Easter is almost here. The bunnies around my house are becoming excited. They have invited even more to their bunny bounce. Here is one of the new arrivals. He, fortunately, would rather sit than bounce.
The same cannot be said of this long-eared rodent. He definitely loves jumping as high in the air as he possibly can. He has attached himself to my son, who has dubbed him 'Rodney'.
This character showed up just a few days ago, and even the other rabbits are not sure what to make of him. He told me that his name is Homer, but I'm not sure that I believe him. You have to watch out for jackalopes. They are not real reliable. Just as an aside, I think the Olympic committee really missed out on something when they didn't make a jackalope the mascot of the 2002 winter games in Salt Lake City. What better icon of the American West is there? Think of all the postcards they could have sold.

Another Cat

I decided to sew together another cat. ( I needed something to keep the mice under control.) I wanted a cat whose front legs were not so tightly attached as the last. My husband calls this the "tube steak" cat.

Bunnies Doing What They Do Best

It has been too long since I have posted here. Fortunately or not, it was not because I didn't have anything to post. Things have been busy here. Since the last post, I have been invaded by big fuzzy jumpy rodents that have been multiplying everytime I turn around. I have heard that they are good at that. The little fellow was the first one to show up. He seemed harmless enough, but there must be a devious mind behind that innocent grin. He invited friends over to party the moment I wasn't looking. ( Rupert has been feeling put out because he hasn't received an invitation yet.)

First, he needed a cute pink girl for entertainment in order to entice his more rowdy buddies. She looks like she is in a bit of a shock. The reasons may be the next rabbit, who shocked me a little as well.

This fellow looks like trouble. He has been staring at me for over two weeks with those crazed pink eyes, and it is starting to give me the shivers.

I think this jack rabbit has been spending a little too much time in someone's garden and not enough time dodging cars on the highway.

I now wonder how many more rabbits are going to show up before I have to quietly get rid of some of them. There will probably be more before Easter arrives. If I'm lucky, a few of them will leave me some colorful eggs and chocolate.

Its All Gone to the Birds

Here is some of the birds that have come home to roost at my house lately. First is this little songbird. He is not too flashy, but he has a nice soft twill to his voice.
These to fluffy yellow chicks came from the same nest though you might not know it. One obviously got to the bird feed sooner than the other.
This little guy graced our home for only a short time before flying off to a place more to his liking. He now has his own space where he can survey all the comings and goings at a friend's house. He likes the fact that he is out of reach of children and cats.

p.s. No socks were harmed in the creation of these feathered creatures.

Happy Birthday!

It was my oldest daughter's birthday a little over a week ago. I asked her if she wanted me to make her anything for her birthday, and she told me that she wanted a sock monster with flowers on it. This is what she got.

I think she might like it.
